MommityPrivacy Policy
Introduction
Mommity ("we", "us") is a maternal and postnatal health companion for mothers in Cameroon. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, how it is protected, and the choices you have. By using Mommity you agree to this policy.
Data we collect
• Account: name, phone number, email (or Google/Apple ID if you sign in with them); a guest mode is also available. • Pregnancy & health data you provide: last menstrual period, due date, pregnancy history, antenatal (ANC) visits, mood check-ins, symptom (danger-sign) checks, reminders. • Community posts you choose to share. • Approximate location (only while using the Environment dashboard and Emergency map; used live and not stored long-term). • Device push token (to deliver reminders) and basic diagnostics (crash and usage analytics).
How we use your data
• To calculate your pregnancy week and personalise your journey, tips and reminders. • To power the AI companion, danger-sign guidance and weekly content. • To send antenatal-visit and health reminders. • To keep the service safe (content moderation, abuse prevention). We do NOT sell your data, and we do NOT share individual health data for advertising.
Artificial intelligence
AI features are provided using Google's Gemini models. What you type to the assistant, and the pregnancy details needed to answer you, are sent to Google for processing and are not used to train their models. AI guidance is informational only. It is not a medical diagnosis and never replaces a nurse, midwife or doctor.
Processors & storage
We use Google Cloud as our hosting and infrastructure provider. Google processes your data on our instructions, to store your account and health records, deliver notifications, and power the AI assistant. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Some of it is also kept on your own phone so the app works without a connection; you can remove that by deleting your account or uninstalling the app.
Third-party services
Map and facility data come from OpenStreetMap; weather and air-quality data come from Open-Meteo. These receive only the approximate coordinates needed to answer a request and do not receive your identity.
Data retention
We keep your account and health data while your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see Your rights). Anonymous diagnostics may be retained in aggregate.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export or delete your data, and withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact us at mommity26@gmail.com. We aim to respond within 30 days.
Security
Your health records are readable only by you. Access is enforced on our servers, not just in the app, so your records stay private even to other Mommity users. A small number of trained staff can see information you choose to share for follow-up care, such as a request for support. No system is perfectly secure, but we take this seriously and review it regularly.
Children
Mommity is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
We may update this policy and will notify you in-app of significant changes. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
